March 30 It's a boy!Todays Mood(s): Hopeful and Happy
What she had another baby?!?! Yes! I've had no internet since September, so many of you missed out on the pregnancy stories like I had with Elizabeth. I will try and sum it up as best as I can. The first I thought of it was way back in August. I missed my monthly friend :P but I put it off to missing it because of stress...the more I thought of it, I didn't remember having it in July either. When I missed it again in September I knew for sure and a doctor confirmed it for me. I was pregnant. My due date was confirmed by ultrasound, I was due March 8th. I finally got to tell people, and I was already 16 weeks along. I must have been having a blonde moment lol. I feared bleeding again like I did with Elizabeth, but thankfully my pregnancy progressed normally and without any problems. Then we get to January 29th. It was a normal day. Baby moved alot. I didn't have anything out of the ordinary happen. Had dinner out with my friend Kathy and another lady. I came home and had a relaxing bath with John, just talking about how our day went. John said something that made me laugh, and all of a sudden there was a gush of bright red blood filling the tub. Well, we got on the phone with the hospital right away because bright red blood in pregnancy is bad because it is "new blood" not "old blood" which would be a brown color. So they said to come in right away. We got there close to 11:30pm. They hooked me up to all the monitors, and checked the pad I had put on to see how much blood was there and they agreed that it was "new blood". My doctor arrived and did an internal exam. She said I wasn't dialated and my cervix was still good. So they were just going to keep me overnight and do an ultrasound in the morning to see if the placenta was seperating. Okay, no big deal I thought, everything would be okay. Wrong. I was laying there trying to sleep, when around 2:00am I felt another big gush of blood. I was soaked with it and had to change. The nurse who came to help me, said it looked "watery". They tested the fluid and told me my water had broken! So then they decided it would be best to induce me. They put the iv in and started the process. They upped the oxytocin regularly. I couldn't have an epidural because my blood platelettes dropped really low, so when it came time that I needed help with the pain I used the laughing gas. I knocked myself right out of it and remember having some really strange dreams..... Anyways since I was so out of it I barely remember the pushing, but the nurses told me he practically came flying out! The doctor had apparently just checked me and I still had a lip. She turned to log it down but then had to turn right back around because one of the nurses was telling her his head was there and he was crowning! Patrick was born at 12:12pm on January 30th 2008 weighing 5lbs 1 1/2 ozs. Which isn't bad considering he was 4 weeks premature. Had I gone to term with him, he probably would have been my biggest baby. His name some of you might remember from way back in my "What's in a name" blog, because we've had this name picked out for a boy in case Victoria or Elizabeth had been a boy. It's Patrick Allan Goleski. Pictures have been added in my album below my blog, enjoy! :D September 14 Elizabeths Birth StoryWe arrived at the hospital at 12:30 am. I was only 2-3 cm dialated, so i wasn't worried....just thought we had a while to go. Then her heart rate dropped extremely low. They took me out of the asessment room to the labour room faster than i could blink. They took bloodwork and my blood pressure. The doctor urged me to have an epidural in case they had to do an emergency c-section to get her out asap.....so i did. But because i had the epidural so early, my contractions stopped and they had to give me oxytocin to restart them. The tracing wasn't reading my contractions very well either so they put in an inflateable catheter to measure them. The results from my bloodwork and my blood pressure being high told them that i had developed pre-eclampsia. Now not feeling anything because of the epidural, everything reading properly, blood pressure cuff in place to take my blood pressure regularly, they told us to get some sleep. John slept on a pull out couch in the room but with everything sticking out of me sleep was not so easy, so i just ended up dozing. Eventually though i started feeling that inflateable catheter and i couldn't figure out why. Then it dawned on me that my bladder was full and i had to pee. So i told the nurse. Because i wasn't allowed up, i had to have that "other" catheter to drain me. After she put that in i felt some relief. She checked me now and i was 6 cm. Not to much longer to go i thought and boy was i right!! She had just turned around to throw the wrappings from the catheter away when i felt "the urge". So i told her and she said she better check me again.........i was fully dialated and ready to go!!! They brought everything in, John was woken and had just got to the bed when the contraction started and they told me to push. Two pushes and she was out. No tearing or stitches required. Elizabeth was born at 5:10 am. Because of the pre-eclampsia she wasn't getting enough through the placenta the last few weeks which was why she was so tiny at 5lbs 3 ozs. But the public health nurse was here on saturday and she was 5lbs 6 ozs so she's gaining well and i'm on meds to keep my blood pressure down. August 20 Considered Full Term on Monday!!Well monday is the start of...Week 37!!!
Week 37
How your baby's growing: Congratulations! Your pregnancy is now considered full term — meaning your baby is developmentally ready to handle life outside the womb. (Babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 weeks are post-term.) Your baby probably weighs a little over 6 pounds at this point and measures between 19 and 20 inches, head to heel. How your life's changing: The next couple of weeks are a waiting game. Use this time to prepare your baby's nursery or to take care of tasks you may not get around to for a while after your baby's born. Take naps and catch up on your reading while you can.You may be getting a lot more Braxton Hicks contractions now, and they may last longer and be more uncomfortable. Sometimes — when they start to come frequently — you may even think you're in labor.
Woohoo!!! So close!! Haven't had any "signs" yet. Did have an experience yesterday though. I was taking Cameron to his science camp and the baby decided to move his/her head on me. Pushed right against my cervix and i was like ohhh! I grabbed my belly and Cameron asked if i was ok but i was still so uncomfortable that i couldn't answer him right away...and then the baby did it again. I had calmed down enough that i could answer him now and i said "yeah i just have a moving head", and he looked at me for a second and started laughing.
I think the last few weeks are the hardest to get through. You are feeling big, uncomfortable, and awkward, and are soooo ready for it to be done....but you have to wait!! You are excited and nervous all at the same time. The smallest twitch has you hoping and wondering if this is it, the big moment. You think you have everything ready...but wonder if there is something little you may have forgotten and drive yourself nuts going over everything repeatedly.
Speaking of feeling big and awkward.....there's my big belly lol. August 11 Getting ready
Well this is where i'm at now....looks like i'm packing my bag today lol. I already have babys bag ready to go. We finally picked up the crib from my sisters yesterday so now we just need to get a matress and a dresser.
If the size and weight of the baby is accurate according to this calendar.....i probably won't be getting to much bigger (thank goodness). Cameron was only 6 lbs 6 ozs when he was born and Victoria was 6 lbs 14 ozs. The Group B strep test i get done at my next Doctors appointment on Wednesday.
Then i start going to the doctors once a week. Down to the waiting game now. They say i can go into labour up to two weeks before my due date to two weeks after it for a full term baby. So that could be anywhere from August 29 to September 26, since my due date is September 12. But who knows, Cameron was a week early and Victoria was right on her due date.
All i know is that this little bundle of joy will be here soon!! July 27 Almost there...just 7 more weeksRemember that commercial........"I've fallen and i can't get up"?? Well.....that's me now, except it's "Help! I laid down and i can't get up". I have to roll over on my hands and knees to get up lol. Feet? I seem to remember having them....i just can't see them anymore!
I'm going to the doctor every two weeks now, and during the last visit she put a scary thought in my head. She pointed out that my last two labours were quick, and then she said that since this is #3 it's probably going to be even quicker! Ikes!!! I was in labour with Cameron and Victoria for only 8 hours each. My sisters labours were the same and for her third she was only in labour for 1 and a 1/2 hours!! So now i'm thinking omg!! Am i even going to make it out of the house and to the hospital? As long as it starts during the night when John is at home i don't care, but if it starts during the day while he's at work.....
Well.....only 7 more weeks to go though so i guess we'll see what happens then. Then our little bundle of joy will be here! All the pain of labour forgotten, I'll be able to see my feet again, and i'll be able to get up and down without calling for help. June 08 Tests....shots...almost done with them :)Well I went for my glucose tolerance test today. Hopefully it is okay and i only have to do it once this time! I had to do it twice when i was pregnant with Victoria, since i was borderline for gestational diabetes. I wouldn't mind it so much if it wasn't an orange flavour *yuck*. 14 weeks left to go....i start going to the doctor every two weeks now. My next visit i get my rogam shot. I had to have that done when i had that bleeding episode, but since it only covers you for 12 weeks, i have to get it done again so that i'm good for the labour. Then the last shot i'll get is another rogam shot before i go home after delivery. Tests....shots.....bloodwork...almost done with them all!! |
